LetsPlay DiscGolf is a free, ad-supported social app for disc golf groups and events. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Your shared account
LetsPlay and LeaguePutt use one shared account. Your sign-in details, profile, friends list, messages and friend notifications are kept once, in the shared account, and both apps use them. The LeaguePutt Privacy Policy also covers that shared account. Each app keeps its own app data: LetsPlay's groups and events stay in LetsPlay.
What we collect
- Account details (shared): your mobile number or email address and your display name. If you continue with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google, never your Google password.
- Public profile (shared): your display name, photo, city and state, and your Player ID. LetsPlay keeps a copy so your friends and groups can see who you are.
- Location you give us: your city, state and ZIP code in your shared account. If you tap "use my location" in your account, your device location is used once to look up your city and is not stored.
- Your search point (LetsPlay only): if you tap "Use my location" on LetsPlay's Home screen, your device location is read once and we save a rounded point (about a kilometer) so we can show public rounds near you. It is kept in LetsPlay only, never shared with other players, and your shared account location does not change. If you never tap it, we use the city-level location from your shared account.
- Course holes: a course ambassador (a player a LetsPlay admin appoints for a course) can record its holes by walking the course and tapping Record here at each tee and basket. LetsPlay then stores precise, timestamped tee and basket positions. These are course features, not their own location history: we keep only the averaged point for each tee and basket, never the path they walked. Their account id is kept in the layout history, which only LetsPlay admins can see. Hole maps are shown on course pages to signed-in players, with the ambassador's display name.
- Basket reports: when you tap "Basket here today?" or "All baskets moved to" on a course's Holes tab, LetsPlay reads your device location once to check you are within 1 km of the course. Your location is compared and then dropped; it is never stored. We keep which basket you reported and when, which LetsPlay admins can see; if you delete your account, your reports stay without your account id.
- Course photos: if you add photos to a course page, they are public: anyone who opens that course in LetsPlay can see them with your display name, and a well-liked photo can become the course's cover picture, including in round link previews. We remove location and camera details (such as GPS) from every photo when you upload it. Each photo is checked automatically by Google Gemini for nudity, violence, ads and photos that aren't of a course; a flagged photo is hidden until a LetsPlay admin reviews it. You can delete your own photos at any time.
- Face ID / passkeys: your fingerprint or face never leaves your device. We store only the public key your device creates.
- What you do in LetsPlay: the rounds you post, join or ask to join, the Private Circles and Live Circles you make or join, the messages you send in Live Circles, your home courses, the scores you add at a course (only you see them), and your own self-reported numbers (such as your PDGA rating and course averages). You choose what to fill in.
- Round chat: the messages you send in a round's chat. Only the players joined to that round can read them, and a round keeps its chat while it exists so you can read it from your round history. If you leave or are removed from a round, you can no longer read its chat.
- Reports: if you report a round, a chat message, a photo, a course, a course photo or a lost disc report, we keep your report and the reason you gave so that a LetsPlay admin can review it.
- Lost disc reports: when you post a lost disc, the course, hole, colour, brand, mold, plastic and your note are shown to other LetsPlay players for 7 days, or until you remove it. The phone number you say is written on the disc is kept private: it is never shown to other players, and it is only used to match your disc to a found report.
- Found disc reports: when you post a found disc, we store your two photos of it (and a photo of where you hid it, if you did) with their location data and other photo details removed. Google Gemini reads the photos to describe the disc (colour, brand, mold, plastic) and to find any writing on it, such as a name or phone number. Other players see the description and a copy of your photos with all the writing blurred; if we can't be sure all the writing is hidden, they see the description only. Your original photos, the hiding-spot photo, and any name or number written on the disc are kept private. You confirm the number before we use it. While you take the photos, a small copy of each one is sent to Google Gemini for a quick check (is it a disc, is it sharp); that copy is not stored. When a report is removed or ends, its photos are deleted 30 days later. If you left the disc at a drop-off, other players see that it was left at a drop-off (with the location's name once enough players use it); words you type yourself for where you left it stay private. When you or an admin search for a drop-off place, the search text is sent to Google (Places) to find the business; we send no account details with it.
- My Bag: the discs you add are yours. Friends see the list (mold, brand, plastic, colour, type, flight numbers, nickname and status); nobody else sees it. Photos you scan are processed by Google Gemini to read the disc, stored privately with location data removed, and shown only to you. The number written on a disc is private: it is only used to fill in your own Lost a disc form.
- Notifications and presence: the notifications we send you about your rounds, and when you last had LetsPlay open, so we don't send you a phone notification for something you can already see.
- Basic usage: standard server logs.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in, and show your profile to your friends and the people in your groups and events.
- To deliver friend requests, messages and notifications.
- To show rounds to the right people: public rounds near you, and friends-only rounds to the friends and Private Circles they were posted to.
- To review reports and keep LetsPlay safe.
- To text or email you a sign-in code or link you asked for. We don't use texts for marketing.
- To keep LetsPlay safe and working, and to fix problems.
Advertising
- LetsPlay is free because it may show ads.
- Ads may use limited, general information to decide what to show: the page you're on, your general area (city or state), and basic device and browser details such as screen size and language.
- We don't give advertisers your name, phone number, email address, messages, friends list or exact location.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- If we ever add an ad partner that uses cookies or similar tools to personalize ads or measure them across other sites and apps, we'll update this policy before it starts, name the partner here, and give you the choices the law requires.
Who helps us run LetsPlay
We use service providers that process data for us: Railway (hosting and database), Cloudflare (storing photos), Google (checking course photos with Gemini), Google Gemini (reading found disc photos and the discs you scan into My Bag, on the paid service, which does not use them to train its models), Google Places (finding drop-off locations you search for), Amazon Web Services (text messages), Resend (email), Google (optional sign-in), and BigDataCloud and Zippopotam (looking up a city from a location or ZIP code). They may use the data only to provide their service to us. LetsPlay's course list comes from the PDGA course directory and OpenStreetMap, and its maps use OpenFreeMap tiles: when you open a map, your browser asks OpenFreeMap for the map tiles it needs, so they see your device's address and the part of the map you are looking at. The map on a course page may come from Google Maps instead: your browser then loads it from Google, which sees your device's address and the course's location; we send no account details with it. The Holes tab on a course page and the hole editor show satellite map tiles from Mapbox: your browser loads them from Mapbox, which sees your device's address and the area shown; we send no account details with them. While an ambassador places a pin, the editor shows aerial photos (USDA NAIP) from the USGS National Map instead, which sees the same. When an ambassador opens the hole editor, LetsPlay's server asks OpenStreetMap's Overpass service for the course's mapped tees and baskets, sending only the course's location.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile at any time; the change shows in both apps.
- You can turn phone notifications off on any device, and remove a Face ID sign-in from your account.
- You can delete your course photos on the course page, delete your course scores on the course page, and remove your home courses and course averages yourself on your profile, and leave a round you joined, or cancel one you host before it is played.
- To delete your account and its data, open the menu, tap Account, then Delete account (you'll type DELETE to confirm, and it can't be undone). You can also email us at support@letsplaydiscgolf.app. Deleting your account removes it from both LetsPlay and LeaguePutt. In LetsPlay it also cancels the open rounds you host, takes you out of other rounds, and deletes your circles, profile, course photos and likes, home courses, course averages, course scores, your course ambassador roles (the holes you placed stay, without your account id), lost and found disc reports and their photos, your bag and its photos, your profile photo, feedback you sent, reports you filed, your blocks, notifications and chat read markers. Live Circles you started pass to another member, or close when nobody is left. Messages you sent in a round's chat or a Live Circle stay there and show as "Deleted player".
Security and retention
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Sign-in codes and links are stored only in hashed form and expire. We keep your data while your account exists and delete it when you delete your account or ask us to, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Children
LetsPlay is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be shown in the app.
